Robert Archer began his furniture design career with both hands firmly planted in mid-century design.  Starting in 2006 he founded MODERNICUS , initially selling online and in a tiny warehouse space in Alexandria.  That 500 square foot space quickly turned into 5,000 in just a few short years and MODERNICUS was supplying Washington DC's collectors with the best examples of mid-century design.  Truck loads of his mid century finds made it's way to NYC and dealers across the globe.

in 2012, desiring to focus on his own furniture collection while exhibiting important mid-century pieces alongside his own designs, he re-branded and moved into Washington DC's tawny design district; Cady's Alley.  Nestled among famous design brands such as B&B Italia, Design Within Reach, and important interior designers & architects, ARCHER found a home in a gorgeous light filled gallery space.

IN 2015, deciding that a retail presence was no longer desired, he moved operations online and landed in the quaint and picturesque village of Sperryville, VA.  From his design studios (occupying an 19th Century post and beam barn) he continues his work, exploring furniture concepts..
